I stayed in town late yesterday for a No Host farewell to an old friend who worked here at K-EARTH-101. As Smokey Robinson once said, “What’s so fair about farewell?”

To kill some time between getting off the air and the 5 O’ clock get together, I played 9 Holes of golf at the Par 3 Rancho Park course on Pico Boulevard. It is not far from K-EARTH and the party. I was reminded of the writers strike driving by the Fox Studios. The picketers were out in force.

The 9-hole golf fix was the perfect way to pad the time. I was paired up with a nice guy named Charles. We discussed the weekend football results, the weather and how we have the best climate in the country.

You see, that’s just one of the side benefits of golf. It’s social, unlike tennis for example where you’re trying to smash your opponent. And I got some fresh air and exercise.

By the way, the bargain rate green fees were $7 Dollars (Holiday Veterans day rates) normally six, and three for seniors during the week.

Just another inner city jewel to take advantage of and enjoy. The next time I have a meeting or late afternoon event to attend, I’ll pack my golf clubs. You don’t need many since the longest hole is 148 yards, and I’ll pay another visit to the Rancho Park Par-3.
