jimi hendrix Step Into The Home Of Jimi Hendrix

The London apartment the great [lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm] called home in the late sixties will be open to the public and feature original artifacts from the guitar God.  Hardcore Hendrix fans, book your trip to London now to walk through the home of a music legend.

[lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm] lived on the top floor of a three-story brick flat in London’s Mayfair district in 1968-69.  It was the same space classical composer George Federic Handel lived in two centuries before, and will be filled with artifacts borrowed from Seattle’s Experience Music Project.

What can you expect to see in the home of [lastfm]Jimi Hendrix[/lastfm]? First off, the original chipped wood-chipped wallpaper is still in tact from when Jimi occupied the apartment.  Also, original handwritten directions to the Isle of Wight scrawled on the back of a map, an orange velvet jacket, and handwritten lyrics to classic songs.

“It will be a blank space but it will allow your imagination to run wild thinking about what Hendrix did here. Serious Hendrix fans are awed by the experience. They get a real good sense of Hendrix spending time here,” commented museum director Sarah Bardwell.

  • Can you imagine all the history his home is filled with, if only walls could talk.
