the police Sting Rules Out Ever Reuniting With The Police Again

Delighting fans worldwide with a global reunion tour of the [lastfm]The Police[/lastfm] in 2007, mono-named lead singer [lastfm]Sting[/lastfm] threw down some harsh words for his former band and declared another reunion of the new wavers was out of the question.

Comparing the past reunion and former band mates to a broken family getting back together, don’t count on ever hearing Sting belt out “Roxanne” with The Police onstage ever again.  trans Sting Rules Out Ever Reuniting With The Police Again

Now that he’s experienced what getting back together with his ex-band mates feels like, [lastfm]Sting[/lastfm] knows now that he never has to do it again.  Shedding some negative feelings on their past worldwide reunion tour, Sting isn’t interested in ever touring with [lastfm]The Police [/lastfm] again.

“It wasn’t easy. There was nothing new in it – no new songs, no new energy, no desire to take that as a platform and move somewhere else.”

Ouch, Mr. Sumner, that’s a little harsh wouldn’t you say? Sting goes on to compare the reunion to a divorced couple getting back together, which is never a good idea.

“People reacted to The Police coming back as if mum and dad had got together, you could see that emotion in the audience. But who really wants to go and live with the wife you divorced? I won’t do it again. But I don’t need to I’ve done it now.”

Although he may never want to jam with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers on the road again, Sting says he doesn’t regret the massive reunion tour saying: “I had an instinct that it was the right time to realise that asset, and I was right. It was purely an exercise in nostalgia.”

We may never hear the punk/reggae trio perform together again, but their memorable funk hits will forever live in our hearts and be stuck in our heads.
