lennon piano Pop Superstar Enrages John Lennon Fans

What he thought was a harmless picture posted on his Twitter, John Lennon’s youngest song, Sean, unexpectedly caused an uproar amongst hardcore Lennon and Beatles fans across the country via the web.

What was the photo that sparked such an outcry from fans? Who’s better at stirring up a big pot of controversy these days other than pop sensation [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm], see the photo that caused quite the opposite of “peace and love” from fans.

Sean Lennon and mother Yoko Ono welcomed pop diva and professional anomaly [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] in their home the other day. Doing what she does best, Gaga played a little piano for the two in a very intimate performance. But she didn’t tickle the ivories on just any piano; it was [lastfm]John Lennon[/lastfm]’s iconic white Steinway he gave as a gift to wife Yoko Ono.

Sean Lennon posted the picture with the caption: “With gaga at mom’s house, she’s belting on the white piano…” on his Twitter.  Needless to say, some fans were displeased the eccentric pop singer dared touch the sacred instrument.

Backlash soon followed in response to the photo from Lennon/Beatles fans on the networking site who thought Gaga is “unworthy” to play the iconic instrument.  One comment read: “WHY WOULD YOU LET LADY GAGA PLAY ON JOHN’S PIANO? I’m disappointed. >:(“

Sean responded to the criticisms with a  logical response, saying:  “pianos meant are to be played. Why is everyone so uptight? What should we do, lock it away in a dusty room? So judgmental…”

He eventually took t he picture down from his Twitter page and commented once again to the cynics saying: “Firstly, he gave that piano to my mother for her birthday, it is hers, secondly, he was not uptight the way you seem to be. Come on, lighten up…life’s too short, there’s enough real problems in the world….”

[lastfm]Sean Lennon[/lastfm] seemed to have inherited the calm sensibility from his famous “peace and loving” father and mother, and sees no point in getting upset over such a silly matter.

  • What do you think of this Twitter controversy, are fans right to get upset that the pop singer is “unworthy” to play Lennon’s piano, or is it senseless to get bothered by it? Let us know in the comments below!

thank you sean…you are absolutly right…i tell people that all the time…life is too short….people are so ready to judge and whine about the simplest of things. if folks would just take the time to put all their negative energy into just living life, we would all be the better for it.

ridiculous to get hot and bothered, pianos are meant to be played regardless of whose they are. only in a museum should they not be played. is the apartment a museum? I think not.

I agree with Sean. It’s a piano and meant to be played. By Lady Gaga or whoever! Embrace peace and love to honor John.

…I’m not a fan of gaga myself, at all, but come on guys, what’s the deal… music is love, love is music, and regardless if one likes her music or not, well, more power to her and her talent…. good for you Sean and Yoko

    …and guys, “give peace a chance”….

So it’s Yoko’s piano – a GIFT from John. Why are people getting their shorts in a bunch for? To me, it’s stupid that people would even care that Gaga was playing a piano that John once used and gave to his wife. People need to get over it and stop being rediculously idiotic.
