Beach Boys To Reunite For 50th Anniversary

First the Beach Boys were rumored to reunite for their 50th Anniversary Tour with the full lineup including [lastfm]Brian Wilson[/lastfm]. Those rumors were quickly quashed since Wilson is completely focused on finishing his upcoming album Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin. But wait, now the rumors have surfaced one again from Al Jardine that the group will reunite for at least one more show.

Let’s hope this is true this time, because we can’t take the teasing anymore! So what are the [lastfm]Beach Boys[/lastfm] planning for their extravagant anniversary show — or even better — world tour?

There has been inner group discussions from the [lastfm]Beach Boys[/lastfm] about getting back together for a one-off, super-show for their 50th Anniversary celebration.  Nothing is set in stone, but according to founding member, Al Jardine, the lineup for the celebration will include himself, [lastfm]Brian Wilson[/lastfm], [lastfm]Mike Love[/lastfm], [lastfm]Bruce Johnston[/lastfm] and possibly even early guitarist [lastfm]David Marks[/lastfm].

Jardine tells Rolling Stone, “We’re definitely doing at least one show — you heard it first. It’s a big deal. I don’t know where it will be yet, but it’ll probably be free. Golden Gate Park was mentioned, as was the [National] Mall in Washington, D.C. and the north shore of Chicago by the beach.”

But if they’re putting in hours of energy into rehearsal time for one spectacular show, why not just take the fine-tuned performance on the road around the world? Jardine has his eyes set on embarking on a 50th Anniversary tour rather than just one big blowout.

“I want to see a 100-date anniversary tour,” he says. “I want to go all around the world, but if this is the way it has to be, then so be it. We’re going to have to rehearse one hell of a show. My point is, if we’re going to rehearse and make this such a wonderful show, we should take it on the road.”

Makes sense right? Why do just one show when you’ve perfected your set and could share “Good Vibrations” with millions of fans around the world? We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

C’mon, guys, make it HAPPEN! You’ve still got fans out there who’d love to see you. Donate the proceeds to charity if you want to rival the “free show” concept, but at least do 3 shows: West Coast, East Coast & Europe, so that your fans from around the world have a better opportunity to see you all together one last time!
