mellencamp sq Artists Join John Mellencamp in Farm Aid 25 Line up

In 1985, [lastfm]John Mellencamp[/lastfm], along with two other notable performers, started the Farm Aid concert to raise awareness and garner support for American farmers who were losing their family farms due to financial or other reasons. The loss of family farms continues twenty-five years later, and so does the annual Farm Aid concert.

Mellencamp, with [lastfm]Willie Nelson[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Neil Young[/lastfm], started the Farm Aid concerts and have performed in them every year. Here is the list of artists who will be joining the 25th Anniversary concert:

  • [lastfm]The BoDeans[/lastfm]
  • [lastfm]Amos Lee[/lastfm]
  • [lastfm]Robert Francis[/lastfm]
  • Norah Jones and Jason Mraz are the latest additions to the concert – Jones has collaborated with co-founder Willie Nelson and hopes to make an album with him in the future, while Mraz has performed at Farm Aid in previous years. This year’s concert will be held in Milwaukee, WI, on October 2nd. If you aren’t in the area, watch the live broadcast on DirectTV, beginning at 5PM CST.
