Today In Music History: September 8th

Taking a look at music history on today’s date, in 1967 [lastfm]The Doors[/lastfm] performed at the Lagoon Park Patio Gardens, Farmington, Salt Lake City, Utah and one year later [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm] performed ‘Hey Jude’ on ‘Frost On Sunday’ to an invited audience in the United Kingdom.

1973 –  [lastfm]Marvin Gaye[/lastfm]’s “Let’s Get It On” began its two week run as the number one song in the U.S.

1994 – [lastfm]Michael Jackson[/lastfm] and his new wife [lastfm]Lisa Marie Presley[/lastfm] were featured on MTV Video Music Awards.

2005 – After missing a New Years Eve concert at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas in 2000, a court ordered [lastfm]Rod Stewart[/lastfm] to pay the hotel $2 million.
