It worked for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dolly Parton[/lastfm] and “Dollywood.” It worked for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm] and the Neverland Ranch. Could Las Vegas icon [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Wayne Newton[/lastfm] successfully turn his Nevada home into a museum?

Newton’s home is said to contain South African penguins, sweeping crystal staircases and celebrity keepsakes such as a [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Frank Sinatra[/lastfm] champagne glass, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nat King Cole[/lastfm]’s watch, Steve McQueen‘s Rolls-Royce and a [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Johnny Cash[/lastfm] guitar.

But neighbors are already up in arms over the proposal, which they say will bring a tremendous amount of traffic to their neighborhood.

“This should be fought at all costs and I think this is appalling,” said Bart Donovan, one of Newton’s neighbors. “This is our community, too.”

“The last thing I have ever done is infringe on my neighbors,” Newton rebuts.

Newton’s home is six miles away from the Las Vegas Strip, which as frequent Vegas guests might know, puts him out in the middle of nowhere.

Is it wrong to really, REALLY hope that the museum is named “Wayne’s World?”
