Performing a massive two-show night at Madison Square Garden on August 30, 1972, John Lennon, along with other performers that night, put on an incredible show all to raise money children with mental problems.

Watch these five live performances from that concert as a loving tribute to the man who promoted peace and inspired millions with his music.

“Instant Karma” — John and Yoko sit together on the piano for the upbeat hit, “Instant Karma.”

“Come Together” — Playing one of his most recognizable hits, John gets the whole crowd to “come together” and sing along to the song.

“Mother” — John slows down his set with the very touching, soft piano ballad, “Mother.”

“Hound Dog” — John and Yoko pay tribute to the King of Rock n’ Roll with their rockabilly rendition of “Hound Dog.”

“Cold Turkey” — With a bluesy sound and gritty vocals, the band jam session of “Cold Turkey” is nothing short of amazing.
