Cher has added another record to her already long list of accolades during her six-decade career. This week, the Diva tops the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart with her latest single “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me,” making her the only act in music to score a No.1 hit for six decades in a row.

We obviously will never see the last of the extraordinary Cher, who still keeps on producing hit after hit and reinventing herself to stay on top of her game year after year. How many other acts can say the same? Check out the past six decades of Cher’s No.1 hits on the Billboard charts starting with the song launched her career with “I Got You, Babe.”

Cher top the Billboard charts for the first time on Aug. 14, 1965 with “I Got You, Babe” as part of Sonny & Cher. The song reigned on top for three weeks on the Hot 100 Singles chart.

In the ’70s, Cher topped the charts with a trio of hits including “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves” (1971), “Half-Breed” (1973) and “Dark Lady” (1974). She also scored another ’70s No. 1 with Sonny, “All I Ever Need Is You,” on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1971.

Moving to the ’80s, Cher scored two more No.1 hits on the AC charts with 1989’s “After All,” with Peter Cetera, and her iconic “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

In the ’90s, Cher returned to the Hot 100 charts with her No.1 dance hit “Believe” staying on top for 4 weeks in 1999, as well as scoring three No.1 hits on the Dance charts with “Believe,” “Strong Enough,” and “All or Nothing.”

In the 2000s, Cher didn’t disappear from the scene and score two No.1 Dance hits with “A Different Kind of Love Song” in 2002 and “When the Money’s Gone” in 2003 both from her album Living Proof.

Now with the start of the new decade, Cher has already topped the Dance/Club Play Songs with her Golden Globe winning No.1 hit from her movie Burlesque, “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me.”

I love Cher, She is two years older than me, I wish I had that body.

Good for Cher for lasting so long and for “looking so good” for her age (she’ still looks totally hot!). I’m a big nostalgia buff so I would have to say my favorite song would have to be “I Got You Babe”, one of Sonny and Cher’s first hits.

It’s also a song me and Fiona have sung together alot at Karaokes. Right Fiona?, Fiona? Fiona? Oh well. Miss you Fiona. Es Loti Milu! (latvian), Ich lieber dich (German), Je t’aime (French). The other songs are also all terrific but that one is my fave.

  3. Joella says:

I’ve Got You Babe and After All are my favorite # 1 hits.

  4. oldies76 says:

Yeah, but not 6 decades of #1’s on the HOT 100 chart, which is the main music singles charts recognized in the music industry.
Besides that fact, a great accomplishment by Cher and all her music is timeless!! “Dark Lady” is my favorite, but all her songs and the songs with Sonny are great!
