In efforts to shut down the use of nuclear weapons around the world, a team of artists and celebrities have united to record a charity album of “world prayers” benefitting the anti-nuclear organization Global Zero.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Sting[/lastfm], Robert Downey Jr., and an unreleased Doors’ track are among the big names who will be featured on the album Prayer Cycle 2: Path To Zero in order to fight for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.

The album Prayer Cycle 2: Path To Zero is the second compilation of musicians and celebrities lending their voices to raise awareness about the anti-nuclear organization Global Zero.

Other artists signed up for the charity album include members of the rock group [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Korn[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Yes[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Sinead O’Conner[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]System of a Down[/lastfm].

The album will feature a previously unreleased recording of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Doors[/lastfm]’ Jim Morrison reciting his poem “Moonshine Night.” The first compilation album released in 1999 featured performances by James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt and many more.

The mastermind behind these albums is composer Jonathan Elias, who has been working on this project for five years. He tells, “I think we’re a little on the dark side at times, and it doesn’t take much to really think about, how unless we really gain some consciousness, we really are heading into uncharted waters.”

The seven-song set is due out on May 10, and Elias also reveals that he is working with Global Zero on “some sort of visual representation” that will accompany the album’s release.
