[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm] had the looks, the voice and unwavering confidence as she kicked off the big game by singing the National Anthem. Not being her first time singing the Anthem at a big sporting event, you would think Aguilera would have no problem nailing the tune, but the singer got so caught up in the moment that she sang the wrong lyrics.

Watch the video of her performance and see what she had to say about the embarrassing flub!

You may not have noticed during the moment, but superstar Christina Aguilera sang the wrong lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner at the start of the big game on Sunday. Instead of singing “‘O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming,” Aguilera sang “what so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.”

Embarrassing to say the least, but at least she sounded great. Afterward, she addressed the mistake saying, “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”

Check out the video of her performance and see if you can catch the mistake.

just how stupid can she be, first she messes it up by not singing it like it should be sung, then she can not even sing the right words. SHAME ON HER…

Just wondering why any of the celeb’s can’t just get up and sing our National Anthem how it was written. Why do they alway’s half to put there own spin on it. They didn’t write the word’s or the music. Sing it the way it should be sung!! With Respect and if you are going to make a fool of your self in public and on T.V. please atleast sing the right word’s. What a disgrace to this Country!

I believe her when she says “she got caught up in the moment” and of course, she’s human (aren’t we all!). I think she’s entitled to make a mistake and it by no way shows that she is “unpatriotic to her country–far from it).

How many of you know the second and third verses to the Star Spangled Banner (Written by Francis Scott Key)?

I know “O Canada!” by heart, but I don’t know the second or third verses to that athem. So, if we don’t know off by heart all three verses, that means we are not patriotic Americans or Canadians? If we make a mistake with the words, were not human right? I would say think again. A flub is flub and I say let it go, right or am I?

I admire America for her patritotism (extremely proud and patriotic which I think we Canadians can learn from you). Not that we are not patriotic because we have some fine patriotic talent and I myself love Canada and what she stand’s for and the anthem (although I don’t know all three verses).

Our anthem is simple and not difficult to remember, but if somebody makes a mistake why give them the third degree, right? That’s my opinion though.

How does that American patriotic song go again? Oh yeah! God Bless America! That’s great and I love that song, but I also my own version called, “God Bless North America” sung to your song because we both share the same continent.

I also like our own patriotic songs of Canada (“Something to Sing About”, “Canada Is”, “C-A-N-A-D-A”, Up Canada Way” and “This Land is Your Land”, just to new a few)..
I’m a patriotic Canadian and I admire the patriotism of Americans but I say “give it a break and let it go when someone makes a mistake of singing the athem or any other patriotic song; just like I’ve been trying to let go of my past for the last 10 years. Lighten up, life’s to short!

Her hair was a mess and she looked like she just came from a funeral. Her face looked bloated too!
