The first installment of the new season of Celebrity Apprentice was fueled by that juicy reality TV conflict and drama between the star contestants, and former teen star David Cassidy was caught right smack dab in the middle of it.

David called into The Morning Show With Gary Bryan to give us his side of his unanticipated elimination from the first episode of the show and standing up to the antagonizing of the show’s first established villain, Richard Hatch.

I think Lisa Stanley said it best that David Cassidy and Charlie Sheen now have something in common; they were both FIRED! It was the former Partridge Family heart-throb’s first venture on reality TV, and I think it’s safe to say his brief experience on Apprentice will be his last.

Viewers weren’t anticipating Donald Trump’s surprising choice of fire David Cassidy at the end of the first episode of Apprentice, especially since most were in agreement that Richard Hatch should have gotten the boot. But a good villain on the show makes for great reality TV, according to David.

“It’s a circus show…but that’s what makes reality TV; people stabbing each other in the back, the cat fights. It gets ratings,” said David. But he wasn’t at all disappointed at being the first to go on the show. He admits that reality TV isn’t really for him and that he’s not as competitive as the other contestants, but that he was focused on working with people.

For the first challenge, the celebs were asked to run a pizza shop in the race to earn the most money at the end of the challenge. Though the boys’ team eventually lost, David said the show didn’t air what it really took to complete the job. He and Jose Canseco spent over seven hours in a hot basement mix and preparing pizza dough that made 195 pizzas during the challenge.

His contribution to the project wasn’t shown in the episode, he says, but the building tension and conflict was high between him and project manager, Richard Hatch. Hatch was disrespectful to David throughout the whole challenge and was shown pushing and yelling at David. But Hatch’s bullying and lying in the challenge didn’t faze David one bit.

“I stayed honest and authentic, and handled myself with integrity like I always do,” said David. Even the rest of his teammates were in agreement that Hatch should have been fired at the end of the day, but what would the Apprentice be without an evil super villain stirring up conflict?

Donald Trump even told the producers after the show, “I know Richard should be fired, but I can’t wait to watch Jose strangle him.” The drama is bound to unfold as the new season of Celebrity Apprentice continues!
