You may know him better as [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cat Stevens[/lastfm], but either name you call him, Yusuf  “Cat Stevens” Islam has been a tireless promoter of peace around the world armed with his guitar and inspirational songs.

After four decades since we got on board the “Peace Train,” Yusuf has recorded another peace-promoting song to support the peaceful protests in Egypt and others around the world who dream “of being unshackled from harsh authoritarian regimes.” Watch and listen to the inspiring song “My People” that features the voices of hundreds of participants around the world in a special chorus.

Yusuf reached out to fans all around the world to lend in their voice for the chorus of “My People” to help support the people in Egypt who were peacefully asking for change in the country.

He said about recording the song, “I had no big plans, but as we were all watching what as going on in Egypt there was this fantastic feeling of support and so we wanted to stretch out a hand to these people who were peacefully asking for change. I was on the guitar and then suddenly this song came out and ‘My People’ had arrived. The mood was simply one of intense admiration for the people who were standing up peacefully.”

I love Cat Stevens music (“Peace Train” is one of my favourite–[yes Canadian spelling again] songs along with “Moonshadow”, used to sing that one in public school during music class).
