It’s a [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Santana[/lastfm] song today on ‘Tickets @ 2,’ a song written by Salsa legend [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tito Puente[/lastfm] in the early ’50s.

While Puente was very popular in the Latin community, Santana’s cover of “Oye Como Va” became a hit and helped introduce Puente to a wider audience.

Greg Rolie, who sang many of Santana’s early hits, took the lead vocals on this song. Rolie was a founding member and keyboard player for Santana; he joined Journey in 1973.

We’ll take caller # 14 when it plays between two and three for a pair of tickets to “The Wizard of Oz,’ with soundtrack provided by the Pacific Symphony, playing at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. 1-800-232-KRTH. (5784)

I remember this song very well (Fiona and I love the group Santana very much); I remember listening to this song when I was last in L.A. dreaming and “re-writing Eric’s MIrror” in October of 2005. Listening to the Beach Boys while walking down Venice Beach, now that was amazing!
