We all know we should be getting at least one hour of physical exercise in every day, but sometimes that’s a challenge to accomplish on a daily basis. But studies have shown that just 30 minutes of walking each day can ward off risks of cancer, heart disease and diabetes in many people.

Walgreens stores are taking action with their new Walk With Walgreens program that allows participants to log their steps to a healthy life online, and in return, get rewardable coupons redeemable at Walgreens nationwide. If you’re ready to start your walk to fitness, join K-EARTH 101’s own Antonio this weekend in the first Walk With Walgreens event!

By logging on Walk With Walgreens‘ online community, members can log how many steps they take each day, which can add up to both a new, healthy lifestyle and big savings with Walgreens! Members can also learn about the health benefits of walking, set personal goals, find local community walks and share their progress and information with friends and family.

This Saturday, April 9th, you’re invited to take your first step to health with K-EARTH 101’s Office of the Day superstar, Antonio at the MS Walk at the University of California in Irvine. The MS Walk is in support of Walk With Walgreens and the check in begins at 7:30 a.m.!

I think that’s a great idea. I remember using them once when I was in L.A. in 2004 at the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Conference) that August. I believe there is one down the street from the Century City Plaza Hotel where I was staying near Santamonica Blvd. Is it still there?
