In honor of their recognition for the award, The Eagles are performing a special concert for Azoff and guests at Universal Studios in May with all proceeds benefiting research and treatment of diseases at the City of Hope.

Because of their charitable contributions to the City of Hope cancer research center, the Eagles’ manager Irving Azoff and his wife are receiving the high honor of the Spirit of the Life Award at a special benefit ceremony on May 7th. The Eagles will perform live at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios as a tribute to their manager.

“We are grateful and privileged to receive this year’s Spirit of Life award, and are proud to help recognize the incredible work being done by researchers at City of Hope,” the Azoffs said in a statement. “The institution’s level of advanced research into finding cures for life-threatening diseases is unparalleled, and we’re pleased to support its vision.”

All proceeds from the ceremony will be dedicated to the City of Hope for research, treatments and education for life-threatening diseases like HIV/AIDS, diabetes and cancer.

The Eagles are currently preparing for a European tour this summer and have just been added to the lineup for the 2011 Hop Farm Festival in the UK in July.

The Eagles are one of my all time favorite singing groups. I especially enjoy “HOTEL CALIFORNIA” and “Peaceful, Easy Feeling” (except when you’re in love, right Fiona? Fiona? Fiona? How I miss you so!)
