On ‘Tickets @ 2’ this afternoon be listening for “Jack & Diane” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Mellencamp[/lastfm], a # 1 hit in 1982.

A song about a high school couple falling in love, the inspiration was his home town of Seymour, Indiana which had a population of about 13,000 at the time.

Mellencamp was quoted in The Sun October 10, 2008 if he was bothered that he is best known for this song. He replied: “That song is almost 30 years old and it gets played more today in the United States than it did when it came out.”

    Remember when this song came out in the 80’s; I was in high school back then and I still have that second in my collection. Great song!~ (should be retitled, “Ray and Fiona”, right Fiona?)
