Joining the ranks of other music superstar [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Celine Dion[/lastfm] and recently announced Elton John, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rod Stewart[/lastfm] has been confirmed for a two-year show residency on the bright-light strip at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace.

Kicking off in August, Stewart promises to deliver a good old rock and roll show without the kitschy Vegas production of “magicians or midgets” and will play the songs people want.

Starting his two-year residency on August 24th at the Palace’s Colosseum, Stewart says the show will be “90 percent of song that people know” including hits that made him famous like “Maggie May,” “You’re In My Heart,” and “The First Cut Is The Deepest.”

He tells Billboard, “We’ll try to give the people what they want, which are the songs that made me famous, plus a few surprises. There won’t be any magicians or midgets, just a good rock show.”

He’ll be backed on stage with a 13-piece band that he has picked out, saying “I’ve got the lineup to (make changes) — all the mandolins and guitars. We’ll throw in something from, say,  ‘Gasoline Alley,’ maybe even ‘Gasoline Alley.’ ”

Stewart recently just wrapped up his massive co-headlining ‘Heart and Soul‘ tour with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Stevie Nicks[/lastfm], which made a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on April 16th. Tickets for his first shows in Vegas go on sale May 15th.

So Rod is “locked in for a two year stint” at Caesar’s Palace. Did they throw away the key??
