Greg Kihn, c. 1981 (video still)

Poking through some albums that had been in storage, I came across [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Greg Kihn[/lastfm]’s 1982 set, Kihntinued. One of my favorites from the album when I was digging it 30 years ago was “Testify.” Still sounds good today, ‘cuz real rock and roll never goes out of style.

Most people known Greg Kihn for his 1981 hits “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em)” and the once ubiquitous “Jeopardy,” so overplayed it won itself a Weird Al parody.

Kihntinued came out the following year, a fun, straight-ahead, no-frills, dance with a beer in your hand record, perfectly in tune with the Kihn M.O. I still love the part at the end of “Testify” about taking your shoes off…just sit right down.

And, of course, his signature song…

Don’t forget to check out other Forgotten Favorites.

Great songs even though I’m not familiar with the band. The “Break Up Song”, now there’s a song that sounds familiar. I remember that one; didn’t know that was the group that sang this song.
