For those Sea World San Diego and dinner for two at El Torito tickets, be listening for “Born To Be Wild” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Steppenwolf[/lastfm] on ‘Tickets @ 2.’

The group formed in Los Angeles in 1961 by John Kay, Michael Monarch, Rushten Moreve, Goldy McJohn and Jerry Edmonton after the group Sparrow fell apart.

The name change from The Sparrow to Steppenwolf was the idea of John Kay s suggested by Gabriel Mekler, being inspired by Hermann Hesse’s novel of the same name.

The group first appeared on the same bill with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Doors[/lastfm] at the Hollywood Bowl.

The song has long been associated with motorcycles since it’s use in the cult movie Easy Rider, and has been used in numerous commercials projecting the same image.

We’ll take caller # 10 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) when it plays between two & three on ‘Tickets @ 2.’

Great to here that song again by Steppenwolf, a great oldies classic. That’s what I’ve been missing in my life for many years, adventure and a sense of going into the unknown sort of speak, but in a positive way I guess. A very upbeat, motivating and wild song in itself, don’t you think? It’s a song that dares to be daring (as in taking chances, but using calculated risks in my opinon); that would be in life or course as that’s what I’m referring too, but I love that song; pumps me up! Great song for parties (lile for oldies nights and such; love to entertain as my dad enjoyed entertaining; I remember that growing up in Toronto). Great party song!
