Beatles Break-Up Blame, Ex-Lennon Love’s Favorite Beatle, Best Album Cover

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] says he thinks [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ringo Starr [/lastfm]should be knighted. While all four Beatles enjoy MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) status, only Paul was knighted in a ceremony that took place in 1997. Also during the same interview, McCartney placed the blame for the Beatles’ breakup squarely on [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm].

“Basically me, George and Ringo said, ‘Does this have to be final? Could we do a couple of gigs or can we think about this tomorrow?’ But John was off with Yoko [Ono] and he was saying ‘No, no, it’s great — I feel a release,’ and all that. So that was kind of final.”

In other Fab Four News of Note…The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band has topped a new poll of best album covers in a online poll. Announcing the winner, editors write “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic images in the history of rock & roll.” Abbey Road also made the top five.

And, finally; May Pang, John Lennon’s ex-girlfriend, will stun fans in a new documentary by revealing her former lover wasn’t her favorite Beatle. In “Beatles Stories,” May admits John once asked her who her Fab Four favorite was, and wasn’t pleased with the answer. “John said, ‘Who is your favorite Beatle?’ and I said, ‘Ringo’.”

“I was so embarrassed. I said, ‘But your songs were IT!! I loved your songs,’ which is true! I loved his songs, but my favorite Beatle was Ringo.

John was quite upset, actually.”
