Ever since gas-powered grills have been introduced, there has been a long going debate among diehard grillmasters on which cookout method provides the best results.

With 4th of July around the corner, many of us will be putting on our grilling hats for a celebratory cookout, but will you be reaching for the bag of charcoal or turning on the gas on your barbeque? Check out the pros and cons for each BBQ method, and tell us…do you prefer gas or charcoal grills?

Charcoal Grills


  • The white-hot heat of charcoal cooks the meat quickly, creating a crispy, caramelized texture.
  • Charcoal adds a delicious smokey flavor to foods.
  • Charcoal grills are more affordable and portable to add extra convenience to take your cookout anywhere.


  • It tests your patience trying to get the coals to light and to the right temperature.
  • The flame can burn out at any moment.
  • Cost of buying charcoal adds up over time.

Gas Grills


  • Convenient and easy. Turn the knob, and poof…your fire is there!
  • Adjustable flame for extra control of the heat.
  • Clean and quick.


  • Doesn’t add any smokey flavor to foods.
  • More expensive and stationary.
  • has less of an overall BBQ experience.
