This is the summer that saw the Universal Product Code (bar code) scanned for the FIRST time to sell a package of Wrigley’s chewing gum at the Marsh Market in Troy, Ohio!

President Richard M. Nixon announces his resignation just a few weeks from now to end the Watergate scandal as VP Gerald Ford takes over the helm of the United States.

On TV; summer re-runs, but the season’s “Prime Time” figures are out and the Top Ten Television programs in the country are:  (1) All In The Family, (2) The Waltons, (3) Sanford & Son, (4) M.A.S.H., (5) Hawaii 5-0, (6) Maude, (7) Kojak, (8) The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, (9) The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and (10) Cannon.
