Today's Tickets @ 2 Song: "Please Come Home For Christmas" by Eagles

For Gordon Lightfoot tickets on ‘Tickets @ 2’ be listening for “Boogie Nights” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Heatwave[/lastfm] between two and three.

“Boogie Nights” was written by Heatwave’s keyboardist Rod Temperton, the first song he wrote on his own. That was just the start, he went on to write several hits for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm], including “Thriller” and “Rock With You.”

In February of 1979, a van struck Heatwave’s lead vocalist Johnny Wilder Jr.’s car while visiting family on Ohio, paralyzing him from the neck down. The next year Heatwave had a #9 hit in the UK with the ballad “Always And Forever.”

“Boogie Nights” inspired the title for the movie Boogie Nights, which was obviously set in the Disco era.

We’ll take caller # 18 when it plays at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to see Gordon Lightfoot perform at UCLA’s Royce Hall…good luck!
