It was soon after the debut of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Supremes[/lastfm] in December of 1964 on The Ed Sullivan Show, it became clear the show, which had over 35 million viewers, was the perfect platform to showcase the latest Motown releases.  Not only did it boost ratings for the show, but it also boosted sales of the artists featured each week.

Three different Ed Sullivan Collections are scheduled for release on September 13th:

1.  Motown Gold from the Ed Sullivan Show – A 2-DVD collection with appearances by legendary Motown acts including Jackson 5 performing “I Want You Back,” “The Love You Save” and “ABC;”   Diana Ross and The Supremes performing their No. 1 hits “Come See About Me,” “Someday We’ll Be Together” and “Love Child;” The Temptations doing their No. 1 hits “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” and “I Can’t Get Next to You;” The Four Tops with their No. 1 hit single “Reach Out I’ll Be There;” Stevie Wonder captivating the audience with his No. 1 hit “Fingertips Pt. 2” and his classic “For Once in My Life;” A never-before-released performance of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles singing a medley of the hits “I Second That Emotion,” “If You Can Want” and “Going to a Go-Go” and many more!

2. The Best of The Supremes on The Ed Sullivan Show – Includes of the group’s greatest hits from their 16 appearances on the show including their very first appearance on the show in 1964; “Come See About Me;” “You Can’t Hurry Love;” “Stop! In The Name Of Love” and many more!

3. The Best of The Temptations on The Ed Sullivan Show – Includes their performances on the show including their very first appearance in 1976; “My Girl;” “I Can’t Get Next To You;” “You Make Me So Very Happy” and many more!

    I have a few of Ed Sullivan’s clsssic shows on DVD (the Rock ‘n Roll one on the video above as shown included). Great nostalgia; can hardly wait how the new stet turns out!
