How To Remove Phone Numbers From Your Facebook Page

Facebook is known for stretching its privacy polices to a very thin line  and creating concerns over the lack of control of security on individuals’ pages. Now in a new controversy that’s hitting users’ radar is Facebook synching up phone contacts and posting them to users’ accounts without prior knowledge, but there is a way to take down this feature.

You may have seen this message making the rounds in friends’ Facebook statuses lately:

“This is legit – THE PHONE NUMBERS IN YOUR PHONE are now on Facebook! Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS. You will see all phone numbers from your phone (FB friends or not) are published that you have stored in your mobile phone. TO REMOVE, go to RIGHT column, click on “this page.” please repost so your friends can remove their numbers and thus prevent abuse.”

Many users were unaware that when Facebook is synced up with their mobile phones, it automatically posts all the numbers to your account — Facebook friends or not — and giving access to all your friends.

To remove this feature and take down the numbers from your account, follow the directions above.

They only have the phone numbers of the people who actually list their numbers on the info page of facebook.

Which ‘RIGHT COLUMN’? Where is ‘THIS PAGE’?

    Good thing too!

Your contacts and phone numbers that sync to facebook are NOT public. Only you can see your contacts…not your friends. On the Facebook Contacts webpage it says, “Only you can see your contacts. Your Contacts list is like a phonebook that only you can see”.I think this feature will come in really handy all those times my phone battery dies and I need a number right away!

Thanks for being up to date on tech issues like this one!
