Best known for his role on All My Children as injured Iraq war vet Brot Monroe, J.R. Martinez takes from real life experiences for his role after sustaining burns over 40% of his body when his Humvee drove over a landmine while on duty in Iraq. But turning tragedy into success, J.R. has come into the spotlight not only as an actor, but an inspirational public speaker and spokesman.

While the iconic soap opera is ending its long TV run in September, his time on All My Children has allowed him to get on board with DWTS. He kept his involvement under wraps because he “really wanted it to be a surprise” for fans.

Paired with Karina Smirnoff, J.R. plans to make it all the way to the end as the DWTS champ this season.

“I’m going to fly under the radar and I’m going to creep up towards the end and take the ball home, that’s my plan,” he says.

J.R. has a story unlike anyone else on the show and plans to continue to inspire others with the story of his survival and determination after being injured in Iraq.

“I just want to continue to share and I just want to continue to relate my message to people and just get that source of foundation and hope and support…everything that I can — positive thinking and positive attitude and pass it along to people,” he says.

J.R. gives his thoughts on being part of the new cast of DWTS and what he really thinks about Nancy Grace, plus talks about the final days on set of All My Children and more on the K-EARTH 101 Morning Show!
