The Top Five TV Shows That Use Classic Hits As Theme Songs

In many cases, TV theme songs are just as catchy and popular as real songs themselves, especially when it’s a song that’s already been a hit on the charts. Check out five TV shows that use classic hits as their opening theme song!

Happy Days: “Rock Around The Clock” –[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bill Haley And The Comets[/lastfm] – Seasons one and two feature a newly reworked version of “Rock Around The Clock.”

CSI: “Who Are You?” –[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Who[/lastfm] – There isn’t a better song than The Who’s “Who Are You” to open a show about crime scene investigation.

The Wonder Years: “With A Little Help From My Friends” — [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joe Cocker [/lastfm] – Joe Cocker’s hit perfectly fit the home video style opening sequence of The Wonder Years.

Life Goes On: “Ob-Bla-Di, Ob-La-Da” — [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beatles [/lastfm] – The Beatles’ hit fit the aptly titled Life Goes On, but due to high licensing costs for Beatles songs, the theme song was replaced on the DVDs.

Bosom Buddies: “My Life” — [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Billy Joel[/lastfm] – The short-lived series (1980-82)  starred a young Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari who disguised themselves as women working in creative advertising. The theme song featured Billy Joel’s “My Life,” but due to licensing issues, the song doesn’t appear on the DVD versions.
