Today's Tickets @ 2 Song: "Please Come Home For Christmas" by Eagles

A movie about the life of the Queen of Soul, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Aretha Franklin[/lastfm] has been in the works for years and is finally getting closer to becoming a reality.

“We’re hammering out the last details,” Aretha said this week. The movie will be based on her 1999 autobiography Aretha: From These Roots.

The 69-year-old singer has made it quite clear who she wants to star in the movie, beginning with Halle Berry playing her. But due to concerns about her singing voice, Berry already turned the role down, but Franklin is still convinced she’s the perfect actress to portray her in the movie.

To play the role of her Baptist minister and civil rights leader father, Franklin would like Denzel Washington. To play the role of the great Smokey Robinson, Franklin would like Terrence Howard.

“It will be a chronological depiction of my advent from Detroit to New York as a young, aspiring singer… It’s going to be pretty straight-up. People who have followed my career from A to Z, they already know some of the things, but there will be other things that are not known,” she recently told

The singer has also been hinting she’s already secured a successful director who has had ‘several blockbusters’ over the past 10 years.
