Elvis Presley Speaks About Love, Music & Loneliness In Never-Heard Early Interview

Before taking the world by storm with his hip-shaking rhythm and blues, a young [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Elvis Presley[/lastfm] was just another idealistic up and coming musician with big hopes and dreams.

In a new, rare interview, a 21-year-old Elvis talks about his life, love and making music in a recording that has just been released as a preview to RCA/Legacy’s new Elvis Presley box set, “Young Man With The Big Beat,” out later in September.

The interview was recorded in 1956, just before Elvis was about to explode into super stardom and take over music with his pioneering brand of rock ‘n’ roll. He talks about the way music makes him feel, meeting the perfect girl to fight off loneliness of a touring musician and much more about life.

In the interview heard on The Early Show, Elvis starts, “Hello, this is Elvis Presley. I guess the first thing people want to know is why I can’t stand still when I am singing. Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers, and some people just sway back and forth. I just want to do them all together, I guess. Singing rhythm and blues really knocks ’em out. I watch my audience and listen to them, and I know we are all getting something out of our system. None of us knows what it is. The important thing is that we’re getting rid of it and nobody’s getting hurt.”
