Some actors would consider it an extreme honor to step into the role of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Elvis Presley[/lastfm] on film, others maybe consider it a daunting task to take on such an iconic figure, but either way, The King is getting another on-screen adaptation with actor Eric Bana filling in his blue suede shoes!

Bana will star as the music legend in actor Cary Elwes‘ directorial debut of Elvis & Nixon, which follows the strange but true timeline of when Elvis met President Richard Nixon in 1970 in hopes of becoming a Federal Agent-at-Large in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Bana, known for his starring roles in Hulk and Munich, joins a long list of actors who’ve portrayed the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll on film, including Kurt Russell and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, in the upcoming directorial debut from Cary Elwes titled Elvis & Nixon.

Playing the role of President Nixon is actor Danny Huston, known for his roles in Aviator, Children of Men and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The film will follow the true story of when Elvis wanted to become a “Federal Agent At Large” for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs and hand-writing a letter to President Nixon to offer his services to combat illicit drug use. He later met with the President at the White House on December 21, 1970 and persuaded him to give his a BNDD badge, then returned to his Graceland home the following day.

What do you think, is Eric Bana a good choice for the role of The King?

  1. RainbowRay says:

Not really, but with makeup and an adjusted hair style, I’m sure he’ll do fine.
