One of the two surviving members of the 70s disco trio [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bee Gees[/lastfm], co-founder Robin Gibb has revealed that he’s been diagnosed with liver cancer, a week after he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency treatment of inflammation of the colon.

The 61-year-old singer reportedly received the diagnosis months ago and has been battling the cancer and complications with treatments since.

A friend of Robin’s told the U.K. newspaper Mirror that “Robin is not good and there is a lot of concern for him. You can use your wealth to call in the best experts but sometimes no amount of fame, prestige and money can change things when it comes to cancer.”

Robin was also rushed to the hospital last month with severe abdominal pains and was treated with an inflamed colon. The year before, he underwent surgery for complications with a blocked intestine, which is the same ailment that killed his twin brother and Bee Gees bandmate, Maurice Gibb, at the age of 53 in 2003.  The surgery forced him to cancel several show dates.

Robin’s older brother and bandmate Barry Gibb and their 91-year-old mother have flown from the U.S. to England to help look after Robin along with his wife, Dwina, as he battles liver cancer.

Can’t God just leave the Gibb family alone? First Andy, then Maurice, and now Robin? Man, just let Robin and Barry live in peace!
