Just after the start of the New Year, music’s biggest awards night will honor the best and brightest artists from the past year, plus pay a very special tribute to artists and figures who made a difference in music in the past.

The Recording Academy has released this year’s Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, which includes Motown songstress [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Diana Ross[/lastfm], and plans to honor the late Steve Jobs with the Trustees Award for his impact on transforming the way we consume music.

During this year’s Grammy Awards airing on February 12, influential artists will be honored with one of the highest achievements given from the ceremony.

The Academy announced this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards recipients to Diana Ross, Brazilian musician [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Antonio Carlos Jobim[/lastfm], the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Allman Brothers Band[/lastfm], country singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Glen Campbell[/lastfm], rap pioneer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gil Scott-Heron[/lastfm], country star [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]George Jones[/lastfm], and the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Memphis Horns[/lastfm].

Motown legend Diana Ross, 67, is being honored for her decade-spanning career that has previously earned her several Grammy nominations, but the Lifetime Achievement Award will be her first official Grammy award. She also earned herself an Academy Award for her role as Billie Holiday in the 1972 film Lady Sings The Blues.

In addition, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and renowned jazz recording engineer, Rudy Van Gelder will receive the Trustees Award at the ceremony. Jobs is receiving the honor for helping “create products and technology that transformed the way we consume music, TV, movies, and books,” according to a statement from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards airs on Sunday, Feb. 12 on CBS at 8 PM. Tune in to see this worthy artists receive their awards!
