St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just about hopping from bar to bar drinking as much Guinness and Jameson Irish Whiskey as possible, although there’s nothing wrong with that.  But we’re looking for some Irish events this weekend which are a little more family friendly.  And just our luck, our friends at put together some great ways families can celebrate the “Luck of the Irish” this Saturday.

This will be the sixth annual St. Patty’s event at the OC Marketplace. Abbit the Average Leprechaun will be strolling the grounds from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Stilt Irish Lass will bring the event to new heights from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Your family will also enjoy the Irish music and dance of course, green mint ice cream and green lemonade.

Orange County offers Irish hospitality and fun during the annual Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The event starts at the intersection of Pier and Valley Drive, then travels westward toward the beach along Pier Avenue, making a turn southward along Hermosa and ending shortly after at 10th Street. Get a seat on the sidelines to watch floats, bagpipers, drum bands and classic cars. Wrap up the parade viewing with a fun-filled festival at Pier Plaza that includes festive musical entertainment and if you’re lucky, some performances by cloggers as they’ve been known to make an appearance in the past.

The entire family will enjoy this Downtown LA Plaza’s St. Patrick’s Day outdoor concert. Featuring The Young Dubliners, a Celtic rock n’ roll band, the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Band and Irish dancers and bagpipers. Bust out the shamrocks and green hats and get ready to jig until the kids want to go home.

Hang out with the LA Kings Ice Girls, The Laker Girls and the Bud Light Models at the LA Live entertainment complex in Downtown Los Angeles, located adjacent to the Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center. St Patrick’s Day at LA Live features a mini-parade with music from the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Bagpipe Band.
