George Clooney may have gotten a little more press than he bargained for while protesting outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. this morning.

Clooney, along with his father Nick and others were arrested and taken away in a secret service van during a protest that aims to bring awareness to the crisis in Sudan.

Update: George Clooney has bailed out of jail for $100 after being arrested this morning for crossing police lines while protesting at the Sudanese Embassy.

Clooney’s publicist Stan Rosenfield tells TMZ, “They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”

Clooney, his father and others including Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia were arrested after not adhering to three verbal warnings from police to leave the embassy grounds after giving short speeches.

Clooney and the group of activists were protesting in order to put the spotlight on the crisis in Sudan, in which they accuse Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, of “provoking a humanitarian crisis and blocking food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains in the county’s border region with South Sudan.”

Clooney recently returned from a trip to the Sudan and met with President Barack Obama this week about the issue. Clooney stated that if action isn’t taken in the next couple of months then “we’re going to have a real humanitarian disaster.”

Kudos to George for standing up for what he “believes in”; one of his “passions” I guess! Darryl Hannah also recently was arrested for what she “believes in” (I think it has to do with that pipeline that was supposed to have been built in Alberta going through the States to Texas, right). Lesson learned! Sometimes you have to take a stand if your passionate enough about something; even if it means getting arrested (however, I believe there are limits to go to this extreme;i.e. without smashing cop cars or breaking windows! That’s a more serious charge and it’s “anarchy and stupidity” at the same time. My opinion anyway!

    You go GEORGE!

Sharing is caring; living is giving and giving is living; sharing is caring and caring is sharing
