First Look At Whitney Houston In ‘Sparkle’

This morning, the full trailer from the late Whitney Houston‘s final movie role in the upcoming summer hit, Sparkle was finally released exclusively on Yahoo! Movies.

Co-starring former American Idol, Jordin Sparks, the trailer give a first look at the movie about sisters following in the musical footsteps of their mother, played by Houston, to create the next big all-girl group of the ’60s.

Poised to make a comeback with her role in the up and coming summer smash, Sparkle is now a memory of Houston’s last appearance on film after her death in February. A remake of the 1976 original, Sparkle takes place in the early ’60s and is loosely based off the real-life story of The Supremes.

The movie centers around sisters rising as one of the biggest all girl groups of the ’60s and how they deal with their new found fame. Houston plays the mother to Sparks, who follows in her footsteps to become a singer.

Take a look at the video below to see full trailer of Houston in Sparkle, which is due out on Aug. 17th.

Sounds like something like “Dream Girls” ( I saw that movie and I enjoyed it!). This one actually maybe pretty good judging from the trailer and recalling “Dream Girls”.

“Cadillac Records” is another movie that springs to mind (remember that one from a few years back?). I enjoyed that one as well!
We’ll see how it does considering what’s happened. Isn’t sometimes the case, after the death of a major performer that the movie does well at the box office? I think this one will!
