Many fans have seen this morning’s guest, Justin Willman, as the host on the hugely popular show Cupcake Wars on Food Network, but many don’t realize that this entertaining host also does double duty as a comedy magician. Justin joined us on air this morning to tell us about his exciting new show, Magic Meltdown, happening tonight at Meltdown Comics’ Nerdist Theater.

Justin also gave us a behind the scenes look on the set of Cupcake Wars, where the drama is just about as real as it looks on TV! Recap our interview with Justin and get details on his magic show going on tonight!

If you’ve ever seen Cupcake Wars, you know how intense the cooking battle can get on the set of the show. While Justin tells us that the editing makes the drama a little more tense than it really is, he also notes that on the set there are “legit tears and legit trash talking.”

People also always ask Justin if he ever gets to try some of the bizarre, conceptual cupcakes created on the show, in which he replies, “Only when I want to. Sometimes they’re a little obscure. It’s amazing what they do; it’s wild.”

In addition to his TV hosting gigs, Justin has an extensive 10-year background as a comedian/magician performing his “alternative magic shows.”

Tonight, you can see Justin live as he amazes and entertains the audience with his comedic brand of mind-blowing illusions at Meltdown Comics’ Nerdist Theater. For tickets and details, visit and see below:

I love the name of the theater, “The Nerdist Theater”. Who own’s and run’s the place, a bunch of computer geeks? (no offense intended!). I’ve never seen “Cupcake Wars” (of course it’s been a while since I’ve my darling Fiona’s cupcakes as swell, both so sweet!).

Reading that item, brought to mind a memory that maybe alot of your listeners have had experience with in the past or have seen; a real live “Food Fight” ( I don’t think they have a TV reality show by that name do they?). Get together a shit load of food and a group of friends have a real “food fight”. I’ve had dreams of that to make up for lack of “commoradery” in my life (FUN!). I’d love to splat a “lemon merangue pie” on my brown sugar Fiona’s face! I would lick it clean because she’s so delicious! WOW! did I say that? What people need is to have a good ole fashioned “food fight!” I’d love to be in one!” They’ve had them in high school cafeterias, but of course suspensions always arise (NOT A GOOD IDEA KIDS! If you wanna have one, organize one yourself with parents permission in a SAFE unobstructed place (NO FURNITURE! OUTSIDE IS BEST!) and LET IT OUT! Make it FUN!). I haven’t been smoking anything; it’s just a dream!

Be resolved, get involved—have your own OUTDOOR (preferably) food fight! Have fun!
(optional of course, but a great excuse to have fun, let it all out and have some commoradery)

Anyone remember the food fight scene from “Animal House?” Something like that, but outdoors! Had a look on the net at a sample (pun intended) of “Cupcake Wars”. Pretty amusing and interesting. Do they have anything on “Reality Pizza Folding?”
