Having just celebrated his 62nd birthday on Sunday, the legendary Stevie Wonder has a lot more to celebrate in this coming week. This Sunday, Stevie’s extensive chart-topping career will be honored at this year’s Billboard Music Awards as he receives the Icon Award.

This year, Stevie’s esteemed career and influence in music will be honored during a live ceremony at the Billboard Music Awards as he is awarded with the Icon Award, according to Billboard.

With a record 32 No.1 singles and a series of No.1 albums like Fulfillingness’ First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life on the Billboard charts throughout his music career, Stevie is no doubt one of the most accomplished artists in music history.

Since his very first No. 1 hit “Fingertips (Pt.2)” at the age of 13, Stevie has been rolling out feel-good hits year after year, making him one of the most celebrated artists around. He’s previously been inducted to both the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well having earned 22 Grammy Awards and even an Academy Award for Best Song for “I Just Called To Say I Love You.”

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell in Las Vegas and airs live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena.

  1. RainbowRay says:

Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder, one of the great talents of our time who “overcame adveristy” himself to do “great things” like I want to, no matter how long it takes. It’s The Climb (thanks Myley Cyrus) and not how fast we get there.

    Still Sufficiently Achieving
    Still Humorously Humoring
    Still Diligently Dreaming
