It’s a ’70s rock n’ roll flashback this Friday, July 20th at the OC Fair with a double-feature show from Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Foghat on the main stage!

Joining the Morning Show today was BTO’s singer Fred Turner to talk about this upcoming show, plus the group’s amazing career that’s still going strong after all these years.

On playing the OC Fair with Foghat, Fred joked in his signature Canadian accent that it will be “a blast from the past, eh?”

He also talks about BTO’s beginnings and how they were actually two different bands in the U.S. and Canada.

“We were two bands at one time. We were Brave-Belt in Canada and Bachman in the U.S.,” explained Fred. “We actually broke out of the U.S. rather than out of Canada. Our first gig back in Canada as BTO, they didn’t know we were Canadian.”

He talks about the group’s first number one hit being “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” being their breakout hit all around the world.

Fred also explained that the group’s other notable hit “Taking Care Of Business” was written on the fly while performing on stage in Vancouver. The Guess Who’s Randy Bachman came up with the song’s hook after hearing a local DJ say “taking care of buisness” on air that day, and now the song has become part of rock and roll history.

“It’s amazing. It just came out of no where,” said Fred.
