Hollywood was shocked by tragic news that famed Top Gun director Tony Scott took his own life after jumping from a bridge Sunday night.

Scott, 68, reportedly jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge around 12:30 p.m. Sunday and authorities found his body four hours later, according to CBS LA.

A suicide note was left behind in his black Prius, according to a US Coast Guard Lt., but details of the note have not been released.

Scott is known for his big action flicks including Beverly Hills Cop II, Unstoppable, Enemy Of State, Man On Fire, Days of Thunder and Crimson Tide. He is the younger brother of successful director Ridley Scott.

His body was taken to the LA County Coroner where they plan to conduct an autopsy on Monday. He is survived by his wife, actress Donna Scott, and his two twin sons.

His loss was shocked many peers and admirers of his work in Hollywood. Many celebrities took to their Twitter to pay their respects to his legacy in film.
