Today’s ‘Tickets @ 2’ song of the day is “Thriller” by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

It’s a rare Pop song with a horror theme. Halloween novelty songs like “The Monster Mash” had been around for years, but this was the first song with year-round appeal containing lyrics about creatures of the night who terrify.

Vincent Price, an actor known for work in horror films, did the narration at the end of the song, including the evil laugh.

The hit came up shy of #1 charting at #4 in 1983. It was written by Rod Temperton of Heatwave fame.

When we play it between two and three we’ll take caller #16 at 1-800-232-KRTH (5784) to win a pair of tickets to see The Fab Four Friday November 23rd at City National Grove of Anaheim.
