This morning’s topic falls in line with the spooky Halloween spiritĀ  – as morbid as it may sound, have you ever thought about what song you would want played during your funeral?

Sounds like a strange question, but according to a new survey out this week by Cooperative Funeralcare, it’s a real one. The survey revealed the most played songs at funerals, and for the first time ever, pop music has replaced hymns or classical songs traditionally heard during a funeral.

In the past year, more than 30 thousand funerals requested pop music to be played to honor the deceased; only four percent requested classical and 30 percent request hymns.

So which song tops the list as the most popular choice at funeral services? For the seventh year in a row, Old Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra tops the list with his timeless “My Way,” and for the first time on the list, Adele’s “Someone Like You” cracked in at number 22.

If you’ve never thought about it before, you probably are now, so what song would you choose to have played at your funeral? Choose from the top ten on the Funeralcare list, or write in your on choice in the comments below!
