Making the best of the unpredictable weather caused by Hurricane Sandy, late night host David Letterman played to an empty theater last night for an audience-free show unlike anything we’ve seen before.
Letterman decided not to have an audience at Monday night’s show because “it would put people in jeopardy,” but added, “Hell, we’ve been doing that for 30 years!” Though the show was without audience laughter, the result was surprisingly funny and worked on TV.
His main guest was Denzel Washington, who braved the stormy weather outside and entered the theater wearing a bright yellow raincoat.
