Earlier this week, a major announcement was made that the Walt Disney Company had purchase Star Wars creator George Lucas’ company Lucasfilm for a whopping $4 billion and has plans to release a seventh film in the franchise in 2015.

Lucas explained his reasoning for selling the company was to focus on more philanthropy and will use the money to improve education.

“I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education. It is the key to the survival of the human race,” Lucas said in a statement.

“For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company,” he added, according to CNN. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy.”
