For the longest time, retail stores have shut their doors on Thanksgiving Day to reserve the holiday as a time of rest and relaxation in preparation for the the Black Friday madness that ensues the next day.

This year things have changed a little. Stores including Walmart, Sears, Kmart, and Toys ‘R’ Us will start their doorbusters at 8 p.m. with Target following an hour later at 9 p.m to get a head start on those holiday deals.

The decision to open up on Thanksgiving this year has created some controversy among store employees, some of which have even started online petitions to keep the doors shut on Thanksgiving to allow employees to spend the holiday with family.

But if the doors are open, people will come out a-shopping, holiday or not. So will you be one of the early-starters this year and head out to the stores after dinner is served? Vote below!
