Bringing the classic children’s story of Peter Pan to life on stage for years is former gymnast turned actress Cathy Rigby, who just recently celebrated her birthday on 12/12/12! Cathy checked in with the Morning Show today to tell us about the special production of Peter Pan coming to the Pantages Theatre in January!
Having played the boy who never wants to grow up over 3,000 times for the last 40 years, Cathy has had a couple of close calls and incidents flying around the stage. When asked what is the weirdest thing that has happened while flying in the harness during the show, Cathy recounts a dangerous incident with her sword prop.
“I was sword fighting with Captain Hook…I was flying very quickly from the ground up to the crows nest of the ship,” explained Cathy. “My sword arm is longer than my other hand, and I hit the side of the ship and it ricochets off the ship and hits me in the eye, and I end up with about fifteen stitches.”
Ouch…but like the trooper she is, Cathy continued on with the show! With incredible stunts and action like this, Cathy says Peter Pan is perfect for kids of all ages and a treat for families.
“”Kids are so used to the electronics these days and television that this is a novelty for them,” said Cathy. “A lot of times parents will say ‘I don’t know if my kids will sit and watch this,’ are you kidding me – they’re probably bothering the person in front of them because they’re standing up and watching over the shoulders.”
