Cast Of ‘Backbeat’ To Do Free Performance & CD Signing At Amoeba Music

Having just made its U.S. debut at L.A.’s Ahmanson Theatre in January, Backbeat is the newest production hailing straight from London that tells the story of the Fab Four when they were originally a Fab Five.

As a special treat for Los Angeleno fans, the cast of Backbeat will be appearing at Hollywood’s Amoeba Music for a free in-store performance and CD signing of the play’s Original Cast Recording on February 4 at 7 p.m.

The cast will perform select songs from the play’s soundtrack Backbeat: Original Cast Recording,, which features the music that both inspired The Beatles and songs created from the earliest Lennon-McCartney collaborations with a 20 song track list including “Johnny Be Goode,” “P.S. I Love You,” and “Love Me Do.”

This hit production tells the story of The Beatles getting their start in small clubs in Hamburg, Germany during the early ’60s. It was during this time when the Fab Four was actually five with members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe.

The play follows the five London lads to the Hamburg music scene where the group played several residencies at small clubs like The Kaiserkeller and Star Club. It was at these performances that the group met German photographer Astrid Kirchherr, who took some of the memorable photos of the quintet and later became engaged to Sutcliffe.

Raved by critics as being a “back-story to cherish,” Backbeat takes a dynamic look at the evolution of The Beatles from struggling artists to one of rock music’s most influential groups in history.

Backbeat runs at the Ahmanson Theatre until March 1. For tickets and show times, visit
