The latest viral video making its way around shows two deer engaging in a brutal battle for dominance, and according to the, this video out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota captures a rare wildlife occurrence that isn’t seen by humans often.

KELO-TV reports that two bucks were caught fighting on their hind legs with razor sharp hooves because they didn’t have antlers grown in yet.

“What they’re trying to do is establish dominance or hierarchy in the herd. Things have changed over the winter time. Some animals that were dominant might have died, might have gotten hit by a car or shot in the hunt and so they need to be replaced, so the animals are working toward getting those things settled again,” Game, Fish and Parks Wildlife Biologist Julie DeJong said.

She adds that fights like these make look brutal but don’t usually last long or result in injury.

This video has raked up over 650,000 views since first published last week for its “dramatic ending.”
