Paris Jackson Recovering After Suicide Attempt

Michael Jackson’s only daughter, 15-year-old Paris, was rushed to the hospital yesterday after cutting her wrists with a kitchen knife and downing Motrin pain pills in an attempt to end her own life, CBS LA reports.

Paris is said to be physically fine and receiving the appropriate medical attention at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area hospital after the apparent suicide attempt. Her family is asking for the one thing that’s been most difficult since the day she was born – privacy- while Paris recovers.

“Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy,” Katherine Jackson said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight Wednesday.

Paris was rushed to the hospital around 2 a.m. Wednesday after cutting her wrists and taking pain pills, and apparently she called a suicide hotline, which then alerted 911 on her behalf.

Paris’ mother Debbie Rowe confirmed to ET that the incident was a suicide attempt and the teen had “a lot going on.” A source close to the family said the reason Paris attempted suicide was because she wasn’t allowed to attend the Marilyn Manson concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre Thursday night.

This month also marks the four-year-anniversary of her famous father’s death on June 25th. Sources say that there have been signs the teen has been struggling, and the night before the incident, Paris posted a series of cryptic tweets that seemed to indicate she was hurting, including the lyrics to the Beatles song “Yesterday.”

Paris’ uncles, Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson, also released a statement asking for privacy on Paris’ behalf as she recovers, saying, “Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support for Paris. She is safe and doing fine. We truly appreciate you respecting our family’s privacy at this time.”
